Great video by Beth Ann Williams on You Tube. I recommend watching this video if you do quilting on your domestic machine, especially walking foot quilting. I especially liked her tip on better ways to manage the bulk sitting in your lap while quilting. --Ann

Last Tuesday, our members watched this video together on Zoom. Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts has some really helpful information to get your scraps into attractive and easy quilts. Win-Win! We are sharing it also here, our public blog page so you can also benefit from the wise words in the video. By the way, if you want to find the links Karen mentions in her video, click on the "Watch on You Tube" symbol at the bottom left of the video. It will take you to the same video on You Tube, and her comments and links are directly below her video there. This is a favorite post of mine from 2021. Hard to believe how time flies! Practical, fast to make, and you can use fabric to declare a theme. With the holidays coming up, you could make some of these quickly in holiday fabrics for your home, or a set of them as a wonderful gift. - Ann PS- You can also fold them in half to make a triangle for a different look. PSS- Make each one different. At the center where the fabric meets, you can slip the base of a wine glass in for a combination coaster and wine glass identifier. I have a small wool mat next to my sewing machine to press seams as I make blocks. I have a full size ironing board for bigger projects, but the wool mat has been a real time saver for me. I have used a pillow case to keep the wool mat clean, but it bothers me how funky that looks. I am going to love making a DIY case with pretty fabric from my stash, and it is going to make my sewing area look so much nicer! --Ann |
