Using Small Scraps to Make Small Projects

This is the zipper bag that Lori made.
One of our members, Lori from Canada, shared this cute zipper bag she made using scraps.  She was willing to share it with all of us, and below is the video that inspired her to make it.  It was pretty much an experiment, but it turned out so cute, we had to know more. Thank you Lori!
Ann

Notes from Lori:   For the ones I made I just used:
  • a layer of muslin as a backing
  • cheap double sided fusible (just need it to stick down, not needing it for stability) found on Amazon
  • cheap tulle I found on Amazon (again, nothing fancy, was just testing this out so if it was a bust I didn’t want to have sunk a lot of money in it)
  • leftover fabric as a liner (which will hide the muslin so that first inner layer you stick the scrap fabric to can be anything, could just be mildly stretchy material or something you want to get rid of as it will not be seen)
  • leftover scraps of any size (I tried to trim off the fraying threads for the most part). They can be colour coordinated or just truly scrappy
  • zipper to match the pouch size you’re making if needed

Then just follow whatever style of pouch, wallet, bag, etc you want to make with your newly created slab of fabric.

These links are from Canadian Amazon but this is the tulle and fusible I bought.  Use the phrase below to search Amazon:
  • SAYUAN 54" by 20 Yards (60 ft) Tulle Fabric Rolls for Wedding Party Baby Shower Decoration Tutu Tulle Bolt DIY Wrapping Crafts - White
  • Fusible Interfacing Fabric, Double-Sided Non-Woven Interfacing Light Weight Iron-on Interfacing for Sewing White Co-Polyamide Interfacing DIY Craft Supplies, White, 11.8 Inch x 32.8 Yards
Thanks,
Lori
