Chris's Jelly Roll Challenge + Free Pattern

6/6/2022

Chris had so much fun doing the "Storage Box Challenge" with one of our members, Mary Ann, he decided to challenge her back.  Chris has been cutting up some of his fabric into Jelly Roll strips that he wanted to do a quilt with them.

For those of you who may not know.  A "Jelly Roll" or "Roll Up" is 2-1/2 inch strips of fabric by Width of Fabric (WOF).  Mary Ann suggested a few free patterns she found online, and they agreed on this pattern.

If you would like to join the fun, download this pattern and make the quilt.  No other rules, other than to just have fun.  Please send a photo of your completed quilt top (it doesn't need to be quilted for the photo), and email it to Ann@VirtualQuilters.com.  We would love to share it with out other members.
Here is the free pattern from Moda to download or print:

Mary Ann's Storage Box Challenge (free pattern)

1/23/2022

As many of us know, one thing leads to another.  In this case Mary Ann challenged Chris to pick a storage box of fabric from his stash and make a quilt from the fabric, just what he found in that box.  She would do the same.

Then to add a little more fun to it, Ann volunteered to share a "free pattern" that both of them would have to make.  Of course, why not let everyone in on the fun? Ann is revealing the pattern to both of them on Monday, Jan 24th.  Join in now, or catch up later.

Challenge Rules:  (Honor System, Mary Ann won't be checking!!!)
  • Fabrics from 1 storage bin/container/bag/drawer/tote/whatever... No other fabric can be added.
  • Use this pattern to make it.  Feel free to change the quilt size.
  • Share a photo of your finish quilt with us, please. We would love to see it. Please email it to Ann@VirtualQuilters.com

This pattern was offered free  by Free Spirit Fabrics.  It is called "Sunshine in the Garden" and designed by Sue Penn Designs to compliment her fabric collection you see in the photo. It will be fun to see what the "storage box" finished quilts look like.

It is lap size of 44" x 60" and rated for a Confident Beginner quilter.

Click on "Download File" to get the pattern.  Problems? Ann can email it to members. Ann@VirtualQuilters.com
